Secondary Core Health and Safety Accreditation

Date: Tuesday 27th March 2012
Title of course: secondary core level health and safety accreditation.
Times: 12.30pm till 4.30pm
Venue: Northampton College, Booth lane, Northampton. Tbc.
Course tutor: Judi Greenhalgh

Course details: The Design and Technology Association (D&TA) health and safety standards cover all areas of work within design and technology and are relevant therefore to all teachers/technicians and support staff working in food, graphics, systems and control, textiles and resistant materials

This course will prepare colleagues to meet the D&TA Core Level training standards. Following the training, course members will be required to submit a personal portfolio to show evidence they meet the relevant standards to enable them to apply for national accreditation through the D&TA. This course fulfils OFSTED?s ?safeguarding? criteria.
To be renewed every 3 to 5 years.

Cost of training: £100.00 per person including resources and Free Memory stick with useful resources on. Refreshments also provided.

Cost of Accreditation: £25.00 for new award or £10.00 renewal.
Specialist Levels Training can be arranged at follow up with portfolio if needed.

Primary Food Curriculum

PRIMARY Food curriculum
Date: 25th April 2012
Title of course: Primary Food and Food safety Level 2
Times: 9am to 4pm
Venue: Premier Inn, Kings Cross, York Way. London.
Course tutor: Judi Greenhalgh

Course details: This one day practical course is aimed at primary teachers who teach food elements in their curriculum, or after school clubs. It is suitable for teachers, HLTS's and D&T coordinators.

It will provide staff with an excellent opportunity to enhance and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about food and cooking for the primary curriculum, specifically it will:
- increase teachers? confidence through a practical session,
- raise awareness of Health and Safety in teaching about food and nutrition;
- develop a supportive network between schools concerning food issues.
- provide teachers with a recognised Food Safety Level 2 qualification.

The day is broken down into the following two sessions:

1. Four hours spent on completion of the guided learning and exam. Note: an additional two hours of guided learning is required to be completed as pre-work using the Awarding Body's 'Question and Answer' book alongside the Food Safety handbook. (6 hours guided learning in total).
2. A hands-on practical session, using ingredients and relevant resources for KS2. Here, delegates will learn good practice, safe food preparation, recipe selection, safe use of equipment and discuss preparation of risk assessments.
This course fulfils OFSTED's 'safeguarding' criteria.

Cost of training: £250.00 per person including Food Safety level 2 delegate handbook and work book, exam and certificate, ingredients, resources to make a successful day that you can take away with you.

Dye Sublimation Work shop

Title of course: Dye Sublimation Work shop session : Textiles (Suitable for Primary and Low ability students)

Times: 1.30 to 4.30
Venue: Bemrose School, Uttoxeter New Road, Derby, DE22 3HU
Course tutor: Judi Greenhalgh

Course details: Using your own laptops to take on the Grid Magic Software ( for a limited time usage) this practical workshop will show you how to generate you own image onto different fabrics. You will then , make a few different items with fabric to take away with you. Schemes of work will be discussed and shown as well as how you can expand on this and turn it into an excellent fundraiser for your school.

Cost of training: £150.00 including refreshments and resources.
