Power Hand Tools Training

Date: 20th April 2012

Times: 9am to 4pm

Venue: Bishops Tuxford School, Kettering.
Course tutor: Judi Greenhalgh

Course details: This nationally accredited practical training will prepare teachers, technicians and support staff in design and technology departments to meet the requirements of the TDA/D&TA 'Health and Safety Training Standards in Design and Technology' - Specialist Extension Level S9HS 'Portable Power Tools'.
During the day, delegates will undertake a variety of practical exercises to prepare them to safely use a range of portable power tools at work. These will include: angle grinder, jigsaw, portable circular saw, reciprocating saw, compound mitre saw, biscuit jointer, portable power plane, router and router table.
To be renewed every 3 to 5 years.
This course is suitable for GTP students, Teachers, technicians and health and safety governors.

Cost of training: ?100.00 per person including resources . Refreshments also provided.

Cost of Accreditation: ?25.00 for new award or ?10.00 for additional award.

Primary Health and Safety Accreditation

Date: 19th March 2012
Title of course: Primary core level health and safety accreditation.
Times: 8.30 to 12.30pm
Venue: Open University, , Hammerwood Gate, Kents Hill, MK, MK7 6BY
Course tutor: Judi Greenhalgh
Course details: This national, newly-accredited course will prepare teachers and Primary D&T subject co-ordinators to meet the requirements of the TDA/D&TA Health and Safety Training Standards in Design and Technology - Primary Level Training Standards.

During the course, participants will develop their knowledge and understanding of the
Primary Standards, which includes:

- Developing a culture of health and safety
- Risk assessment processes
- General health and safety awareness

Course members will also learn how to develop a D&T health and safety portfolio as a personal record of their health and safety training and working practice in school. This being a pre-requisite for accreditation by the Design and Technology Association. The sessions will provide the basis of design and technology
CPD with colleagues on return to school. This course fulfils OFSTED's 'safeguarding' criteria.
To be renewed every 5 years.
This course is suitable for Teachers, Support Staff and D & T Co-ordinators, health and safety governors.

Cost of training: £150.00 per person including resources and Free Memory stick with useful resources on. Refreshments also provided.
Cost of Accreditation: £25.00 for award
